So many FREE books…
Hello Fancy!
For the second week in a row, I'm writing to you from an airport. This time, I'm in Bozeman, Montana, where I've spent the week with my tribe, doing creative thinking and "filling my well." It was work, but it was fun work, and while I'm exhausted, it's that kind of energized exhaustion that comes from spending time doing something you really love. For me, that's being with other writers, talking about everything from craft to strategy to what really makes us tick and what our process looks like. And the cool thing is that no matter how many productivity books and methods out there tell you that THIS is the right way or THAT is just plain wrong -- there IS no one way. And it's fascinating to learn how many different ways there are to create.
This week's conference was led by Becca Syme from Better Faster Academy, who I really admire and respect. She focuses her coaching and trainings around the Gallup CliftonStrengths, which is such a cool way to really drill down into how a specific person approaches work and problems and WHY they approach these things a certain way. It helps identify your strengths and talents and helps you figure out how to work WITH them instead of against them, and it's so super useful not just for writers, but for anyone who has relationships with other people. I've learned so much... but it's one of those things you just keep learning.
And even though that's all fascinating, the very best part was getting to talk and hang out with writers I've met throughout the last 10 years of doing this, and those who I met for the first time here. I made a new wonderful friend who I know will be a huge part of my journey going forward, and reconnected with so many I haven't seen in a while! So. Much. Fun. And now I need to pray that I don't get Covid again and potentially go to sleep for a couple weeks. Ha.
I have a free book out...

Charlie’s Corner
Deer Reeders: Mom has been gone a lot. These boys are fun, but they don't take me on walks that are as good or let me sniff the stuff I want. If you see Mom, can you tell her to come back? At least I still get my dinner on time, but I miss spending time working in her office and I bet she has not gotten much done at all without me there to help. These boys say she will be back today. I hope so. Also, if you have any treats, feel free to send. Address to Charlie.
